Taste for Life Organic Issue (April 2007) Book Review (US) foodforthought, review by Elaine Ambrose

"Colorful illustrations of Ophelia the organic cow and her friends accompany a letter-by-letter explanation of the word “organic” in this children’s book. It’s a playful read-aloud for parents and teachers who want to introduce children to healthier food – and a good choice for Earth Day themes in the primary school classroom. Ready, Set, Go Organic! was inspired by the author’s passion for feeding her family healthy, organic food. While children will enjoy the illustrations and the story, parents will appreciate tips on making the switch to organic. There are even several kid-friendly recipes using organic ingredients that are sure to become family favorites."

Organic Life, (July 2007) - Book Review (UK)

"I really enjoyed reading this. My favourite character is Ophelia the cow. I wish she could visit my school and teach all my school friends about organic food and drinks. It's fun to hear why it's good for you and how important too. Ophelia and her animal friends also teach us how to look after the environment and other tips to help the planet.

My favourite page is 'Celebrating Ophelia'. The cows have a party to celebrate 'organic milk' and it looks lots of fun! I think 'Ophelia's Tips for Parents' is also really good and helps parents to get started by making small changes. I made the organic rainbow smoothie and it was yummy. Mum liked it too. I am looking forward to trying the other recipes. I think the book is very good for 4-7 year olds." Leila Wade (age 7).

The Green Parent (August/September 07 Issue) - Book Review (UK)

"Kelley Ann was inspired to write this book when out shopping with her three-year-old daughter, who asked, "Mummy, what is organic?" She set out to write a book that would explain and simplify organic food and make it fun for young readers.

The book stars Ophelia and tells of her mission to spread the word about the wonders of organic food and how to respect the earth and oceans that our food comes from. Vibrantly illustrated throughout with friendly animals, this great little book helps young children to understand the impact of our actions on the world we live in."

Organic North Magazine (Summer Issue) - Book Review (UK)

"There is a terrific new book that's been written that can help you introduce the concept of organic eating to our children. It's called Ready, Set, Go Organic, by first-time author Kelley Ann Lovelace.

This book does a great job in making a difficult term like organic much easier for younger children to understand. Even adults can learn something when reading it. The book is also printed on recycled paper using soy-based ink to gently remind readers to be good stewards of the earth. Throughout the book, easy-to-follow language explains what the term 'organic' means, including how and why it's beneficial to make organic choices early in life. This book is full of bright, cheery illustrations of Ophelia the organic cow and her friends, spelling out the word ORGANIC and having fun learning its meaning together. Ready, Set, Go Organic is an excellent starting point to get both kids and parents interested in eating organic foods.

Letter received from Kari Ani Shiozawa Founder and CEO of Truly Organic Baking, Mother of 3 year-old daughter, Chloe Ani:
"....you have such an amazing idea and such a brilliant way to help ourselves, our future generations and most importantly, our planet. We as parents, MUST take a stand on the foods given to kids today. We are their voice and it needs to be as loud as we can make it. It is up to us to leave this planet in a way we will feel proud about."
